Trial Verse

Sweet and right th’ uncommon dream
To speak a careful, honest sunset’s gleam.
Yet dream is never by dream fulfilled,
Nor beauty born by loveless beauty willed.

So come, o love delayed, and bless
Too late the sunset singer nonetheless,
At least that prayer is right to try
To sing a disappointed sigh.
